Ex-Chelsea star linked with surprise move to Serie A giants Juventus: Reports
Juventus are reportedly looking to sign former Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri in the upcoming transfer windows, as per JuveLiveit. Emerson joined the Stamford Bridge outfit in January 2018 from Serie A side AS Roma. He made 71 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, bagging two goals and five assists.
The Brazilian left-back was loaned to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon for the 2021-22 season. He eventually joined West Ham United in August 2022 from Chelsea. Since joining the Hammers, the Brazilian defender has played 97 matches, scoring four and assisting five goals across all competitions.
Meanwhile, due to Juan Cabal's injury, Juventus are forced to sign a new left-back. As per the aforementioned report, they were initially in talks with Feyenoord's David Hancko and Arsenal's Jakub Kiwior.
Feyenoord did not like Juventus's proposal of a loan, and the Dutch side demanded around €35 million for Hancko. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta is unwilling to let Kiwior leave north London before next summer. They also tried signing Lecce's Patrick Dorgu, but due to the high asking price, the deal also failed to materialise.
As a result, Thiago Motta's side have shifted their focus to West Ham's Emerson, who already has experience of playing in Italian top-tier football. The 30-year-old has played 15 matches for the Hammers in the Premier League this season, scoring and assisting one goal each.
