Ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham linked with cut-price Premier League return: Reports
Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has emerged as a shock target for Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur. The AS Roma striker is being linked with a return to the English top flight after his exit from his boyhood club Chelsea in 2021.
Tottenham are looking to sign a new striker, having failed to replace former captain Harry Kane since his exit to Bayern Munich last summer. Spurs have already added an attacker this summer, extending the loan spell of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
England international Tammy Abraham enjoyed a successful spell in the Premier League with Chelsea before moving to Italy after helping his boyhood club win the UEFA Champions League.
The striker cost the Giallorossi around €40 million and scored 17 goals in his debut Serie A season, while also helping his side win the UEFA Europa Conference League.
TalkSPORT reports that AS Roma have now slapped a £26 million price tag on the 26-year-old striker as they are keen to get his wages off their books. The Italian outfit have struggled financially in recent seasons and are keen to raise funds while also reducing their wage bill.
Abraham spent almost the entire 2023-24 season injured, having ruptured his ACL on the final day of the 2022-23 season. He played only eight times in Serie A last season following his return to fitness, scoring one goal.
Tottenham have been linked with Bournemouth man Dominic Solanke, another ex-Chelsea man but his £65 million may prove to be a hindrance. Roma are offering Abraham to them as a new addition, especially after the struggles of Richarlison in a Spurs shirt.
Aston Villa, West Ham United and Everton have all been linked with Tammy Abraham, who scored nine times across competitions in his second season at the Stadio Olimpico. The England international is likely to move this summer as Daniele De Rossi is keen to revamp his Roma squad.
Chelsea reach agreement to sign Brazilian teenager via sister club - Reports
Chelsea reportedly have reached a verbal agreement with Brazilian outfit Sport Recife to sign 17-year-old right-back Pedro Lima this summer. The Blues will sign the defender via French club Strasbourg, allowing him to develop in France before possibly bringing him to England afterward.
The English side have been linked with youngster Lima, who also had interest from Real Madrid and a host of other European sides. They view the Brazil U-17 international as a perfect choice to take on the right-back role after captain Reece James.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea will pay €7 million plus a further €3.5 million in add-ons for the youngster. He will further strengthen their Brazilian contingent, which already includes the likes of Andrey Santos, Angelo Gabriel and Deivid Washington, and could soon see the addition of Estevao Willian.
