Florentino Perez very disappointed with Real Madrid superstar, wants him sold for at least €40 million in 2024: Reports
Club president Florentino Perez is reportedly willing to sell Real Madrid defender David Alaba if the club receives an offer of around €40 million next year.
According to El Nacional, Real Madrid aren't happy with Alaba's irregular performances this season. Perez in particular is apparently very disappointed with the Austrian superstar and wants to sell him.
Arguably one of Alaba's worst performances with the Spanish giants came in the 3-1 derby defeat against Atletico Madrid last month. Antonio Rudiger was also poor against Los Colchoneros but he has apparently regained the club's trust.
Alaba has played 94 times across competitions since moving to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2021 on a free transfer. Apart from Rudiger and the 31-year-old, Carlo Ancelotti has Nacho Fernandez and Eder Militao as his options in central defense.
Alaba, a utility player, is on a contract that expires in the summer of 2026. It remains to be seen if any team comes forward with a favorable offer to sign the Real Madrid star.
Los Blancos have been linked with several young defenders in the meantime. Ousmane Diomande (19) and AC Milan's Malick Thiaw (22) are both said to be on the Spanish giants' radar, but the latter is reportedly keen on staying with the Serie A giants for now.
Real Madrid let Barcelona to go within one point of top spot
It wasn't the ideal gameweek for Real Madrid as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla on 21 October at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
David Alaba scored an own goal in the 74th minute but Dani Carvajal was alive inside the box to convert a Toni Kroos free-kick four minutes later. This was the second time this season Carlo Ancelotti's men failed to win a La Liga game.
They now have 25 points from 10 games and are still top of the table. But Girona and Barcelona shaved the gap considerably, with both teams winning their respective league matches.
Girona dispatched UD Almeria 5-2 at home while Barcelona eked out a narrow 1-0 win against Athletic Club on 22 October courtesy of 17-year-old Marc Guiu's 80th-minute goal. Real Madrid will face Braga in the UEFA Champions League group stages on 24 October in Portugal.
Four days later, they will travel to Catalonia to face Barcelona in the season's first El Clasico. Barca can go top of the table if they beat Real Madrid and if Girona, who have 25 points to their name, fail to beat Celta Vigo.
