Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha among 8 players Barcelona are willing to offload this summer to fund potential incomings: Reports
Barcelona are reportedly looking to offload eight players, including Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and Ronald Araujo, among others, this summer. The news comes from The Athletic, who believe that outgoings are necessary to complete the signings of targets like Nico Williams and Dani Olmo (via Football Espana).
De Jong is often linked with moves away from Camp Nou, and this time, the Dutch midfielder has two years left on his deal. To date, the 27-year-old has made 213 appearances across competitions for the Blaugrana, bagging 17 goals and 21 assists.
Another player mentioned on this list is Brazilian winger Raphinha, who isn't guaranteed a starting place ahead of the new season. He's got Ferran Torres to compete with on the left flank, while Lamine Yamal has locked down the position on the right side.
Raphinha was signed from Leeds United in the summer of 2022 for a reported fee of €58 million. Since then, he's played 87 matches for the Catalan side, bagging 20 goals and 25 assists.
The most important player on the list may be Araujo, who is an undoubted starter in central defense. He's contracted with Barcelona till the summer of 2026, and the club could secure a decent price for the Uruguay international this summer.
However, the aforementioned report states that injuries to De Jong and Araujo will see them continue at Camp Nou, while Raphinha has no intentions of leaving. The others mentioned on the list are Vitor Roque, Ferran Torres, Clement Lenglet, Mikayil Faye, and Ansu Fati.
Nico Williams makes decision on future amid interest from Barcelona - Reports
Barcelona target and Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has reportedly made a decision on his future amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain. This is as per MARCA, who claim that the player is yet to reveal his decision to those beyond his inner circle (via Football Espana).
The 22-year-old has drawn significant interest after his performances at Euro 2024, where he scored two goals and bagged an assist in six appearances. He also enjoyed a good 2022/23 season, netting eight times and assisting on 19 occasions across competitions.
It is likely that Williams would get the nod on the left flank if he does complete a move to Barcelona this summer. The Spaniard has three years left on his current deal and it is believed the €58 million release clause will have to be met to sign him.
