How much will Leny Yoro earn if he joins Manchester United? Report provides details regarding French star's contract
A recent report has revealed how much Lille youngster Leny Yoro will earn if he potentially joins Premier League side Manchester United. The 18-year-old's future almost certainly lies away from France, with strong interest coming from clubs like Real Madrid.
However, the Red Devils seem to have won the race, with rumors detailing Lille's acceptance of a €50 million offer - with €12m in additional variables - from United. Leny Yoro will undergo medical tests at the English giants' complex, with personal terms now being discussed and finalized.
If Yoro does make the move to Manchester United, a report from Diario AS (via Football Espana) has revealed his potential salary. He will reportedly sign a five-year deal at the club, earning approximately €9 million per annum. This will give him a total wage of €45 million across his contract.
The figure is believed to be well above what he might have earned if he opted to move to Real Madrid. This is because the Spanish giants have reportedly been insistent on not paying any player exorbitantly, opting to be strict about their wages instead. Yoro's reported annual salary at Old Trafford will see him earn as much as established players like Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Manchester United legend openly begged Red Devils to push for Leny Yoro amid Real Madrid interest
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has begged the Red Devils to make their move for Leny Yoro, who he was hoping would snub any interest from Real Madrid. If reports are to be believed, the young Frenchman, who made 32 Ligue 1 appearances last season, now has his sights set on Old Trafford.
Ferdinand had spoken about Yoro on his Vibe with Five podcast, where he shared his concerns that the Madridistas would sign Leny Yoro. He pushed for the Red Devils to get the 18-year-old, stating (via TeamTalk):
“I think Real Madrid are going to take Yoro instead [of William Saliba]. I would love him to come to Man Utd. If you’re looking Leny Yoro, please accept and come to Man Utd, please. Man Utd, please, make the offer and please accept because this kid, I think his ceiling is as high as anybody right now, including Saliba.”
Ferdinand praised his qualities, adding:
“Physically, he’s not as developed or formidable [as Saliba], but he’s a different kind of central defender. He’s quick, and he tries to nibble to get in front, he can play, he’s long, tall, and mobile.”
If he does end up at Manchester United, Yoro will hope he can meet up to Rio Ferdinand's expectations and potentially lead the Red Devils to more trophies.
