Manchester United face rejection from 27-year-old star after approaching him to become new left wing-back at Old Trafford: Reports

Manchester United have been turned down by Inter Milan left-back Federico Dimarco, according to Tuttosport. The Red Devils are looking for a new left-back at the moment amid the growing concerns about Luke Shaw's fitness.

The Englishman registered just 15 appearances across competitions last season, suffering multiple injuries. He recently returned to full fitness, only to be sidelined after three games.

Shaw's backup, Tyrell Malacia, missed the entire 2023/24 campaign due to injury and made his return to action last month. Manchester United have now identified the left-back position as an area that needs immediate assistance.

The Premier League giants have reportedly identified Dimarco as a target and want to take him to Old Trafford next year. However, Inter Milan have no desire to let him go, while the player, who is a lifelong Nerazzurri fan, also wants to stay.

The 27-year-old has registered three goals and five assists from 18 games across competitions this season. Dimarco's contract expires in 2027 but he is reportedly set to enter talks for a new deal.

The Red Devils are likely to be disappointed with the developments as the Italian has the qualities to be a fine fit in Ruben Amorim's system. However, Manchester United reportedly have other candidates on their radar as well.

Paris Saint-Germain's Nuno Mendes has also emerged as an option, with the Portuguese full-back's contract set to expire in 2026. AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez reportedly has admirers at Old Trafford as well.

Are Manchester United eyeing a Norwegian starlet?

Manchester United have taken the lead in the race to sign Sverre Nypan, according to GiveMeSport (via TeamTalk). The Red Devils have shifted focus to younger talents of late and have identified the Norwegian midfielder as a target.

Nypan has already broken into Rosenborg's senior side and has been compared to countryman Martin Odegaard. Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly have their eyes on the 17-year-old as well, but Manchester United are the favorites in the race for now.

The Red Devils are hoping for a new dawn under new head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese has shown an affinity towards youth so far, while the club are also well known for nurturing young talent.

However, Nypan could seek assurances over game time before agreeing to a move. The Premier League giants have already signed talented youngsters Sekou Kone and Chido Obi-Martin this year, while they are reportedly close to securing Paraguayan teenager Diego Leon.
