Injured Barcelona star aiming to be fully fit for team's opening La Liga clash against Valencia - Reports
Injured Barcelona star Ansu Fati is working towards getting fully fit for their opening La Liga clash against Valencia when the 2024-25 season starts. The Blaugrana are currently in their pre-season phase, with a tour in the USA looming. However, Fati will not be available to partake in the friendlies happening across the pond.
The 21-year-old winger started the pre-season well, following a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he had suffered a calf injury. However, the Spaniard has now been affected by a foot injury.
This notably happened during training, with the Blaugrana providing a statement, which read (via Barca Universal):
“In training today, first team player Ansu Fati suffered a foot injury. He will undergo conservative treatment in Barcelona and his return to training will be determined by his recovery time."
This recovery time remains undetermined, with the forward uncertain of when he will return to training. According to reports from Barca Universal, Fati has set his mind to be fit before Barcelona face Valencia in their first La Liga match of the season. The two sides will face off on August 17, which gives the youngster approximately three weeks to return to full fitness if he is to play.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta delivers update on finances
Much of Ansu Fati's game time in the coming season will depend on how many wingers Barcelona have. The club are currently looking to sign players like Nico Williams and Dani Olmo this summer. However, they are concerned about their financial ability to do so.
While President Joan Laporta has said that they can afford to make some of their signings, he has revealed an update regarding their finances. He said during a press conference (via Barca Blaugranes):
“The sports news, well, Deco is working on it. But they know that we can cope with certain investments. Now Barca can make signings of the magnitude we are talking about. The fans have been patient and we are in a position to carry out any operation in the market, we will keep you informed shortly.
“We have a series of investors that we will announce. We are in negotiations with Nike that will improve the conditions for Barca. We are satisfied. There will be news in the medium term. The economic issue is much better than it was. The process was to save the club, to recover the club and we are on the way to normality.”
The president will be hoping that the Blaugrana are able to make their signings ahead of the coming season without too many financial hurdles.
