Is Paul Pogba returning to Manchester United to train at Carrington? Fabrizio Romano provides update
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is not returning to the club to train at Carrington, acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed. The Frenchman's contract with Juventus is all set to be terminated at the end of this month by mutual consent.
Pogba's last appearance for the Bianconeri was in September last year against Empoli in Serie A. He subsequently received a four-year ban after testing positive for illegal substances.
However, his punishment was reduced to a year and a half on the back of a successful appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). While he will be available to take to the field once again in March, Juventus have decided to part ways with the player. The 31-year-old is now looking for his next club.
Recent rumours have suggested that Paul Pogba is set to use Manchester United's training facilities as he prepares to join his next club. However, Romano has refuted those claims.
Sharing the news via social media, the reputed journalist insisted that the player has not been in contact with the Red Devils.
"Reports of Paul Pogba set to train at Manchester United’s Carrington are not true. Pogba is not planning to train at any club as he’s working in Miami on daily basis. As soon as he signs for new club, Paul will be ready to go and train there. No contacts with United," wrote Romano.
The Frenchman left Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer of 2022 to move to Turin. A recent report suggested that Al-Nassr and Inter Miami are keen to sign him, but the player prefers a move to the Premier League.
How many goals has Paul Pogba scored for Manchester United?
Paul Pogba initially joined Manchester United as a teenager in 2009. He was a rage with the youth teams and was highly rated at Old Trafford.
However, the Frenchman left the club as a free agent to move to Juventus in 2012. At Turin, he transformed into one of the best players in the world.
The Red Devils reported paid £89.3m to get the player back to his former hunting ground in the summer of 2016. While the move generated much hype, Pogba never really lived up to the billing with Manchester United.
He won the EFL Cup and the Europa League with the Premier League giants in 2017. The Frenchman has 39 goals and 48 assists from 233 games across competitions for the Red Devils.
