Jose Mourinho eyes reunion with Premier League star at Fenerbahce - Reports

Fenerbace coach Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to reunite with Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at his new club this summer. Hojbjerg previously played under Mourinho at Tottenham for a few months between August 2020 to April 2021.

According to news outlet Sabah, Jose Mourinho sees the Spurs midfielder as an important addition to his Fenerbahce side. The coach also has former Manchester United midfielder Fred, who played under him at Old Trafford for a few months in 2018, at his disposal

Hojbjerg could also be looking for a move away from Tottenham this summer to get more minutes and play regular first-team football.

When Jose Mourinho was at Tottenham, Hojbjerg had become a leader in the midfield but he lost minutes after the coach's departure in 2021. The midfielder made 46 appearances across competitions under the Portuguese manager.

Current coach Ange Postconglou has preferred players like Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp over Hojbjerg. The Danish midfielder had 39 appearances for the Spurs this season.

Apart from strengthening Fenerbahce's midfielder, Jose Mourinho reportedly also has other plans for the Turkish club this summer. The coach signed as the Turkish club's new head coach this month.

According to Diario AS, Mourinho has been in talks with his former club Real Madrid to negotiate a potential loan deal for former Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler. The youngster joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2023.

Mourinho had joked about Real Madrid paying 75 percent of his salary and assumed that Guler would like to continue at the Bernabeu for now, considering Guler's return to Fenerbahce a difficult move.

"If Arda Guler wants to come, why not? If he loves Fenerbahce, if he comes for free and if Real Madrid pays 75 percent of his salary, we cannot say no. I think that Guler is one of the players who wants to continue in a big team like Real Madrid, so it will be difficult for him to return to Fenerbahce," Mourinho said. (via Diario AS)

Arda Guler currently has a six-year contract with the Los Blancos and has struggled to break into Carlo Ancelotti's starting line-up in his first season, with stars like Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham in the squad.

However, the youngster scored six goals in seven appearances for Real Madrid in his debut season, with Ancelotti praising the Turkish wonderkid for his attitude.
