Liverpool dealt transfer blow as PSG join chance to sign 22-year-old attacker: Reports
Liverpool have received a transfer blow after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) signaled their intent to sign Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United this summer. The French giants are keen on signing a new attacker as they look to strengthen their squad following the exit of Kylian Mbappe.
Netherlands U-21 international Summerville emerged as one of the finest performers in the EFL Championship last season, helping Leeds United reach the playoff finals. The 22-year-old caught the eyes of multiple sides in England including Chelsea and Liverpool, with his impressive displays.
Liverpool are intent on signing the young winger, seeing as they are looking to recruit a left winger to compete with Luis Diaz in their squad. Arne Slot's side failed in their attempts to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United before deciding to pursue Summerville.
De Telegraaf reports that Summerville is on PSG's radar and that they are in the best position to complete the signing of the winger this summer. Les Parisien are set to lose out to Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign French youngster Rayan Cherki and are now keen on the Dutchman.
Summerville scored 19 goals and provided nine assists for Leeds United in 43 games in the Championship. However, they just fell short of returning to the Premier League immediately, losing to Southampton in the playoff final. The forward is valued at around £35-40 million and will be open to a transfer this summer.
PSG have decided to target a young, inexpensive replacement for Kylian Mbappe this summer, hence their pursuit of the likes of Summerville. The French giants will look to swiftly complete a deal for the forward, whose contract runs until 2026.
Liverpool set to turn attention to Premier League star - Reports
Liverpool are reportedly prepared to make a move to sign Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze on a permanent deal this summer. The Reds are actively looking to add quality to their attack this summer, particularly by signing a new left-sided forward.
Arne Slot's side targeted Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, with the likes of Yankuba Minteh and Crysencio Summerville also linked at various points. Latest reports from Caught Offside indicate that the Reds are also now in the race to sign Eze from Crystal Palace.
Eze was impressive for Crystal Palace in 2023-24, taking on a bigger role following the exit of Wilfried Zaha from the club. The England international recorded 11 goals and four assists in 27 league appearances for the Eagles, helping them finish 10th.
The 26-year-old has a reported release clause of around £60 million, a reasonable fee for a player of his quality. He will be looking to sort out his future once he returns from Germany, where he is on duty with England at Euro 2024.
