Liverpool eye move for Bundesliga trio; targets include potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold: Reports

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who has been identified as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, and two of his teammates.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, has recently popped up as a hot topic of discussion as he is in the final 10 months of his deal. The creative right-back, who has reportedly been linked with Real Madrid, has contributed two assists in six appearances across all competitions this season.

Now, according to Caught Offside, Liverpool are huge admirers of Frimpong, who has a bargain release clause of just £34 million. They are likely to face competition from Manchester United in the transfer race.

Frimpong, who is adept at operating as both a right-back and a right wing-back, is considered one of the best players in the Bundesliga now. The 23-year-old helped Leverkusen win a domestic double last season, recording 14 goals and 12 assists in 47 total appearances.

Apart from Frimpong, Liverpool are also keen to launch a move to snap up Florian Wirtz. They are allegedly in a position to meet the Real Madrid and Bayern Munich target's £84 million asking price and could ramp up their interest should Mohamed Salah leave next summer.

The Merseyside outfit, who are currently second in the Premier League table with 12 points from five games, have also earmarked Exequiel Palacios as a top target. However, the Chelsea and Arsenal-linked midfielder's £50 million valuation could be a potential problem.

Liverpool star urged to leave current club

Earlier on Saturday (September 21), Caoimhin Kelleher replaced Alisson Becker in the Reds' starting lineup following the Brazilian's muscle injury. He recorded seven saves to help the Merseyside outfit beat Bournemouth 3-0 in their Premier League encounter at Anfield.

After the end of the league clash, Republic of Ireland legend Shay Given urged his compatriot to secure a switch away from Arne Slot's team. He told BBC Sport Final Score (h/t Rousing The Kop):

"Caoimhin Kelleher is so composed and never gets flustered – he has a calm presence. I think he is good enough to be number one somewhere else in the Premier League. Liverpool are a great club, but you have one career and one chance. I think he needs to move."

Kelleher, 25, rose through the Reds' youth ranks before making his debut for them in September 2019. The 25-year-old Irishman has kept 16 shutouts and conceded 59 goals in 48 overall outings for his club.
