Liverpool eye move for former Chelsea target if Mohamed Salah leaves - Reports
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are keen on bringing in former Chelsea target Mohamed Kudus to replace Mohamed Salah if the Egyptian moves away from the club in the summer.
Salah has been linked with a big-money move to the Saudi Pro League in the summer and the Ghanian could be a fitting replacement.
The Anfield-based side rejected a bid reportedly north of £150 million in the summer for their talisman but might be open to letting him move now. With Salah now 31 and eight years under his belt with Liverpool, the chance to move him on for a massive profit will be tempting.
Liverpool signed Salah from AS Roma reportedly for £34.3 million in the summer of 2017 and he has proven to be an inspired signing. His return of 209 goals and 88 assists so far from 342 appearances sees him sit third in the historic club's all-time goalscorers charts.
Salah's output helped the Reds end their 30-year wait to lift the Premier League and also helped them to a Champions League crown, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Carabao Cup.
Mohamed Kudus will be a fine replacement for the Egyptian if he does move on. The former Chelsea target reportedly cost West Ham £38 million in the summer but has already shown himself to be a bargain signing for the Hammers. The former Ajax and Norselland star has taken the London stadium by storm, bagging 13 goals and four assists in 34 games.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp focused on overturning Atalanta deficit in Bergamo
Liverpool boss Jurgen club is focused on overturning his side's 0-3 deficit against Atalanta in the second leg of his side's Europa League quarterfinal against the Italians. The Reds were dismantled at home by their visitors from Bergamo and the German manager is determined to balance the books in the return leg.
Speaking to the press via BBC Sport, the German manager said:
"I'm long enough in this business to know that it's two legs. It's over when it's over. We are allowed to play tomorrow which means it has our 1,000% focus. We are only here for one reason. I remember that I said, 'if we fail, let's do it in the most beautiful way' - and that's exactly how I see it again."
The Liverpool boss added:
"We want to win the game but if we want to win then we'd better play good. If you play good then we have a chance to win it. We will see. I cannot win the game in this press conference. That's why I'm not really interested in the questions you are asking and what I'm answering as well. When I leave this room, finally, that is when it starts."
Liverpool will hope they can rescue the tie and qualify for the Uefa Europa League semifinals. The players will look to give Klopp a special send-off, with the former Borussia Dortmund manager announcing that he will step down at the end of the campaign.
