Liverpool eye surprise move for Barcelona starto bolster squad - Reports

Liverpool are considering a move for Barcelona starlet Gavi, according to El Nacional. The Spanish midfielder is highly rated at Camp Nou but has struggled to break into Hansi Flick's team of late.

Gavi ruptured his ACL while on international duty last year and spent the rest of the campaign on the sidelines. He returned to action in October this year but has been in and out of the Catalans team so far.

The 20-year-old has appeared 13 times in all competitions this season, but only three of them have been from the start. Flick has deployed a midfield duo of Marc Casado and Pedri to good effect so far at Barcelona, putting Gavi's future in limbo.

Liverpool are attentive to his situation and are planning to move for the youngster next year. Arne Slot is convinced that the Spaniard will be a good fit in his tactics.

The Reds have already enquired with the Catalans regarding Gavi's availability. The player's contract with the LaLiga giants runs until 2026 and he is yet to sign a new deal.

The Merseyside club have been on a roll under Slot this season. The Dutch manager has turned them into a force to reckon with and a move to Liverpool could tempt Gavi.

However, the player rose through the ranks at Camp Nou and is highly regarded at Barcelona. As such, they are unlikely to let him go without a fight.

Recent reports have suggested that Luis Diaz would prefer a move to Barcelona if he leaves Liverpool. The Colombian forward has been in splendid form with the Reds this season, registering nine goals and three assists from 22 games across competitions.

The 27-year-old is under contract until 2027 and the Merseyside club are pleased with his efforts so far. However, Liverpool's efforts to tie him down to a new deal haven't been fruitful so far and

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and AC Milan are apparently eyeing his situation with interest. However, should Diaz leave Anfield, he would prefer to join Barcelona.

The Catalans were linked with Nico Williams over the summer but failed to secure the Spaniard's services. The recent update regarding Luis Diaz, as such, could be music to their ears. However, the player is reportedly valued at €80m, which could make him beyond the LaLiga giants' budget.
