Liverpool eyeing up move for PL forward, set to start negotiations with player in January: Reports

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a move for Brighton striker Joao Pedro in the January transfer window. This is according to a report from the Brazilian publication UOL, who say that the Reds have been impressed with the 23-year-old's recent performances.

However, this move will not be cheap, with Pedro's current market value at €50 million, according to Transfermarkt. Either way, the Reds have sufficient players to operate in this role, even if the move does not go through. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are capable of operating in the striker's position, while Cody Gakpo is also a suitable option.

So far this campaign, the attacker has made nine appearances across competitions for the Seagulls, bagging four goals and three assists. Overall, he has played 49 matches across competitions for Brighton, scoring 24 goals and assisting six since joining the club in the summer of 2023.

Pedro is also a unique player who can operate on the flanks when needed. He will be expected to feature for the Seagulls in their next Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Sunday (December 15).

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Mohamed Salah has very few options outside the Reds if he is to move away. The Egyptian legend's current agreement runs out in the summer of 2025.

However, the former defender claims that Salah's options are limited if he wishes to compete in the UEFA Champions League in the future. Speaking on the Stick to Football Podcast, he said (via The Echo):

"I love Mo Salah, he’s one of the best players in the world, but the reason I say (he won't have many other options) is because of his age. When you’re on that type of money and you’re talking about getting a raise - a raise isn’t 10 or 20 grand a week."
"How many attackers do Real Madrid have? Barcelona are in dire straits financially, PSG are nowhere near the team Liverpool are - there are only four or five teams that can realistically win the Champions League and Liverpool are one of them," he added.

Salah continues to play a crucial role for the Reds even at the age of 32. So far this campaign, he's made 22 appearances across competitions, bagging 16 goals and 12 assists.
