Liverpool join race for 19-year-old Serie A breakout star on Chelsea and Tottenham radar: Reports
Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as contenders in the race to sign Danish left-back Patrick Dorgu. According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the three Premier League sides have expressed an interest to sign the Lecce left-back.
Spurs were the first side to register interest, making an attempt to sign him in the summer transfer window. Now, the Reds and the Blues have joined the race for the talented 19-year-old.
Dorgu profiles as an attacking full-back and could be a great fit for the top Premier League sides. This season, he has made seven appearances, bagging one goal for the Italian side.
He could be a great addition for the future to a Liverpool side who do not have great options in the position except Andrew Robertson. The Scotland international himself is probably past his best years while Kostas Tsimikas has failed to impress in the opportunities he has received.
The 19-year-old also fits in well with Chelsea's recruitment policy of targetting young players with high potential. With Ben Chilwell expected to seek a move away from the club, Dorgu could be an adequate replacement for the 27-year-old.
Liverpool identify Chelsea star as possible replacement for Mohamed Salah - Reports
Liverpool could make a move for Chelsea attacker Mykhailo Mudryk. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Reds consider the Ukrainian a possible heir to Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian's current deal with the Merseysiders expires at the end of the summer, with a contract extension looking unlikely in the near future. He previously attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Thus, Liverpool are believed to be preparing for life without the 31-year-old talisman. He has begun the season in fine form, collecting four goals and four assists in six league appearances.
Mudryk, meanwhile, has failed to impress at Chelsea after completing a big-money move in the January 2022 window. He has made 64 appearances in all for the Blues, notching just seven goals and six assists. He has seemingly fallen down the pecking order under new manager Enzo Maresca, with the Italian preferring Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto in the left-wing position over the 23-year-old.
Should they make a move for him, Liverpool are looking to reach an agreement with a fee in the range of €35 million, representing a massive loss for Chelsea compared to the €70 million they paid for Mudryk. While the attacker has the potential to succeed, it is doubtful that he could prove to be an adequate replacement for the Egyptian star.
