Liverpool make contact to sign Premier League star who is in England's Euro 2024 squad: Reports
Liverpool have reportedly established contact with Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze's agents who is currently representing England in Euro 2024. As reported by TPW News on X (formerly Twitter), the Reds have expressed their interest in the England international, who is also reportedly wanted by Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Eze has been a key player for Crystal Palace since his £17 million switch from Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in 2020. The 25-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career in 2023-24 and has attracted interest from top clubs as a result.
A technically gifted player, Eze is equally comfortable playing as a number ten or on the left flank. The Englishman is a phenomenal dribbler who takes on opponents for fun and showcased an impressive end product last season.
The versatile attacking midfielder contributed with 11 goals and six assists in 31 games across competitions last season. His form at club level earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate's squad for the Euros.
Eze has been on the bench in England's two games at Euro 2024 and came on as a substitute against Denmark. Capped five times for the Three Lions so far, the midfielder seems to have a bright future ahead of himself.
Liverpool are preparing themselves for a new era with Arne Slot, who has succeeded Jurgen Klopp. With Eze being reported as a target, the Dutchman is evidently looking to add more flair and creativity to his side.
Liverpool star urges the club to sign a new player in his position
Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo has urged the club's new manager Arne Slot to sign a new holding midfielder. The Japan skipper moved to the Merseyside club last summer in a £16 million deal from VfB Stuttgart and enjoyed a solid season.
Many viewed Endo as a panic buy from Liverpool after they missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea. However, the 31-year-old proved his doubters wrong and became a key player for Jurgen Klopp's side.
However, ahead of the upcoming season, Endo has urged the Reds to sign a new number six. He said, as per The Mirror:
"I don't care about those reports, but I also think it would be better to get the number six midfielder. I think there is a possibility that they are viewing a number 10 player [Alexis] Mac Allister as a number six, but at the moment there aren't many number six players to begin with. I had the most opportunities to play, and so did Mac Allister. We also had Thiago Alcantara, but he had a lot of injuries and is set to leave the club at the end of this season. We also have [Stefan Bajcetic] but it's still unclear as to whether he will be able to contribute immediately."
He added:
"Considering my age, I think it might be okay for me to get the number six. But if it ultimately makes the team stronger, then I'm all for it, because there will be competition and I just have to win my position again. So I'm not really worried about it, and in fact I think it might be okay if I win."
Endo made 43 appearances across competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring twice and producing one assist. He proved to be a solid bargain from the Reds' point of view.
