Liverpool plot move for Real Madrid star as Arne Slot looks to bolster squad - Reports

According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are contemplating a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes. The Reds are reportedly waiting for Los Blancos to green-light a deal for the player.

The Merseysiders' recent pursuit of Martin Zubmendi ended in disappointment as the Spaniard chose to stay with his boyhood club Real Sociedad. After failing to sign the central midfielder, Arne Sslot could shift his attention to a new winger, another position the Dutchman is reportedly interested in strengthening.

Rodrygo, meanwhile, finds himself in an unusual spot at Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappe's arrival could force him to the bench, a position not expected for a player of Rodrygo's ability.

Liverpool, on the other hand, could lose out on Luis Diaz as Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the Colombian. Rodrygo could become a like-for-like replacement and may even be considered an upgrade for the Colombina.

Rodrygo, though, is one of Los Merengues' key players and he wouldn't come cheap. The Brazilian, 23, has so far made 216 appearances for the Spanish club, scoring 54 goals and providing 41 assists. He has proven his ability to rise up to big occasions.

The forward is contracted with the Madrid giants until the end of the 2027-28 season and has an estimated market value of €110 million according to Transfermarkt. Given Rodrygo's ability and the fact that he has the lion's share of his career ahead of him, the massive sum isn't surprising.

Liverpool's Premier League rivals interested in Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo: Reports

As per Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are not the only English club interested in a move for Rodrygo. Apart from the Reds, Manchester City have also been linked with the Brazilian attacker.

Manchester City have parted ways with Julian Alvarez, with the Argentine striker completing a move to La Liga club Atletico Madrid. As a result, City are interested in bolstering their attack and Rodrygo has emerged as an option.

The Brazilian's playing time at Real Madrid remains uncertain due to Kylian Mbappe's arrival and English clubs are looking to pounce on that opportunity. Rodrygo has pace and tremendous flair and is adept at performing at the highest levels for club and country.

With Vinicius Junion and Mbappe present, Rodrygo could either struggle for game time or be forced into changing positions. That said, manager Carlo Ancelotti values the Brazilian and convincing the club to sell Rodrygo could be difficult.
