Liverpool plotting move to sign 27-year-old Barcelona star: Reports
Liverpool are reportedly plotting a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as a replacement for Ryan Gravenberch. As reported by Caught Offside, the Reds view the Dutch midfielder as the potential replacement for Gravenberch who has been linked with a switch to Real Madrid.
Gravenberch has been a revelation for Liverpool this season following Arne Slot's appointment in the summer. Slot has used the Netherlands international in a number six role this season where he has hugely impressed.
The 22-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Real Madrid thanks to his exploits this season. In a domino effect if Gravenberch joins Los Blancos, Liverpool could look to raid Real Madrid's arch rivals Barcelona.
It has been claimed that Frenkie de Jong has emerged as a target for the Reds if they lose Gravenberch. De Jong was touted to become one of the best midfielders in the world when he joined Barca in 2019 for a reported €75 million.
However, De Jong has not quite been able to live up to the expectations at Camp Nou so far. He has made 11 appearances under Hansi Flick this season but has only started twice.
The Netherlands international has been linked with an exit from Barcelona several times in the past. Manchester United came close to landing him in the past and are still understood to be maintaining an interest.
Liverpool among the clubs interested in Barcelona target: Reports
La Liga giants Barcelona reportedly face strong competition from a host of clubs across Europe for the signature of Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. As reported by TBR football's Graeme Bailey, Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are all keen on the Georgia international.
Kvaratskhelia has made a name for himself at Napoli since joining the Naples club in 2022 from Dinamo Batumi. In his very first season at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, he helped Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years.
The 23-year-old has racked up 30 goals and 29 assists in 104 appearances for Napoli to date. His form somewhat dipped last season as he only scored 11 goals and provided nine assists in 45 games but he has seen a resurgence this season.
Kvaratskhelia has been a key player under Antonio Conte this season having amassed five goals and three assists in 16 games. Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly among the admirers of the 23-year-old who is reportedly valued at €83 million.
