Liverpool plotting move for USMNT star in a deal that could cost €25m: Reports
Liverpool have set their sights on PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi, according to CaughtOffside. The Reds are looking to upgrade their attack in 2025 amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah's future.
The Egyptian forward has entered the final year of his contract with the Merseyside club and is yet to sign a new deal. Salah registered 20 goals or more in each of his last seven seasons with Liverpool.
As such, losing the 32-year-old could hurt the Reds in front of goal. Meanwhile, the Merseyside club are also seeking an upgrade on Darwin Nunez, who has been disappointing so far.
Liverpool have identified Pepi as an option for the job. The American striker has scored seven goals and set up one more from 16 games for PSV this season.
Pepi's contract with the Eredivisie club runs until 2028, but he is likely to be available for just €25m. Arne Slot would know all about the 21-year-old from his time in Dutch football with Feyenoord.
The report added that Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping a close eye on the American. However, the Reds are showing the most interest in the talented striker right now.
