Liverpool set to launch €60m attack to sign former Real Madrid winger: Reports
Liverpool are interested in signing Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad, according to a report by TEAMtalk. The Reds hierarchy sees Kubo as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Salah has been outstanding since he joined Liverpool from AS Roma in July 2017. This season, he has scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists in 18 games across competitions for the Reds. But his contract expires next summer and he's yet to sign an extension at Anfield. This is why the Merseyside giants are reportedly looking to sign Kubo.
Kubo is a pacey and tricky winger whose ability to advance with the ball in attack is outstanding. Despite Real Sociedad's inconsistency this season, Kubo has netted three goals in 16 games across competitions.
The Japanese international is a versatile player who features primarily as a right-winger. He could also feature as an attacking midfielder and left-winger when needed.
According to Nacional, the Reds are looking to table a €60 million bid for Kubo either in the upcoming transfer window or next summer.
Kubo has a €60 million release clause in his contract with Real Sociedad, meaning if Liverpool trigger the release clause, they could sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
Kubo is contracted at Sociedad until June 2029. As such, triggering his release clause could be the perfect route for the Premier League giants.
Liverpool are set to relaunch an attempt to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad - Reports
The Reds are also looking to relaunch what seems to be their second attempt at signing Martin Zubimendi, as per TEAMtalk.
Last summer, Zubimendi rejected an offer by the Reds as he chose to remain at Real Sociedad. This is a decision that frustrated Liverpool's plans of bolstering the defensive side of their midfield.
In the upcoming January transfer window, the Reds will look to convince Zubimendi with a much better offer.
As a defensive midfielder, the Spaniard has an excellent ability to bring stability to the midfield. If the deal goes through, Zubimendi could enhance the Reds midfield.
In 16 appearances across competitions this season, the Spaniard has registered three goal contributions for Sociedad.
