Liverpool target undergoing medical at PSG after agreeing 5-year deal: Reports
Liverpool target and Eintracht Frankfurt star Willian Pacho is reportedly undergoing his medical ahead of his summer move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Pacho, 22, has recently emerged as a topic of speculation following his stellar time out for Frankfurt in the 2023-24 season. He helped his club finish sixth in the 2023-24 Bundesliga table after joining them from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp for around £8 million last year.
Now, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Pacho is undergoing his medical at PSG despite previously being linked with Liverpool. He is set to sign a deal until June 2029 at the Parisians.
Pacho, who has reportedly been linked with the Reds for quite a few months, could prove to a stellar signing for PSG should he join them. The Ecuadorian would likely emerge as a starter alongside Marquinhos, pushing Milan Skriniar further down the club's pecking order.
A left-footed ball-playing centre-back, Pacho started all 44 of his appearances in all competitions for Frankfurt last term. The Independiente del Valle youth product laid out two assists for the Bundesliga outfit.
Liverpool urged to snap up Euro 2024 star
Speaking to UK-based betting website Casino Hawks, ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen shared his thoughts on his former club's pursuit of Anthony Gordon. He said (h/t DAZN):
"There's no doubt Anthony Gordon is a talented boy. Obviously there's a little bit of history there, being an Everton player and now being up in Newcastle United. I can't imagine, unless Newcastle are suffering with the money side of things, then I can't imagine they'll want to get rid of one of their most exciting young players."
Owen, who netted 158 times in 297 matches for the Reds, concluded:
"He's done really well at Newcastle since he's been there, so I'm sure Eddie Howe is desperate to keep him. I'm not sure how credible that story can be, but that is the type of player, if somebody like that came available, then of course, that's the type of player Liverpool should be interested in."
Gordon, who represented England at the UEFA Euro 2024, relished a sensational season for Newcastle United in the 2023-24 term. The 23-year-old contributed 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 total games.
On the other hand, Liverpool are reportedly attempting to complete a deal to snap up Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi. The 25-year-old midfielder is believed to have a release clause of £51 million.
