Manchester City eye move for Barcelona target as he plots exit from current club - Reports
Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The Cityzens will face competition from Barcelona in their attempt to secure the German's services, according to Todofichajes.
Bayern Munich finished third in the Bundesliga last season, a point behind second-placed VfB Stuttgart. Bayer Leverkusen ended the Bavarians' 11-season winning streak in a historic unbeaten run last term.
Bayern Munich sacked Thomas Tuchel after their struggles last season and have appointed Vincent Kompany. With only a year left on his current contract and no talks over a potential extension, Kimmich's future at the Allianz Arena is uncertain.
The midfielder has been linked with an exit this summer given Bayern Munich's woes of late. Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Kimmich, with new manager Hansi Flick keen on reuniting with the player.
Flick managed the 29-year-old during their time together at Bayern Munich and during his tenure with the German national team. However, Barcelona are yet to table an offer for Kimmich, as per Todofichajes.
The outlet reports that Manchester City are now keen on signing Kimmich, who played under Pep Guardiola at Bayern. Bayern would prefer to cash in on Kimmich this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
Additionally, Kimmich has reportedly attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as well, posing a further obstacle in Barcelona's pursuit of the player.
"I don't know if I'll stay" - Spain star opens up about his future amid Barcelona and Manchester City links
Spain star and RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo has provided an update on his future amid interest from Barcelona and Manchester City.
Olmo was in stellar form at the 2024 European Championships for La Roja, playing a crucial role in their triumph in Germany. The 26-year-old contributed three goals and two assists in six appearances at the tournament.
While his contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2027, Olmo is one of Europe's top prospects and has been linked with an exit this summer. Barcelona and Manchester City are reportedly interested in his services.
Following his side's Euro 2024 victory, Olmo opened up about his future and said:
"We'll see. Yesterday we celebrated all day and now I'm at the campus. The people who deal with that [transfer market] already know what I want to do. I don't know if I'll stay in Germany, we'll see. I want to be somewhere where I'm valued and loved, and what I want to do is win. There are several options, we'll see what happens.
"The truth is that between the Euro Cup, the celebration and the campus, I have seen little of that. What I want is an ambitious project, and I want to win titles."
Olmo made 25 appearances across competitions for RB Leipzig in the 2023-24 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.
