Manchester City keen on signing Euro 2024 star with €60m release clause - Reports

Manchester City have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo. As reported by AS, the Manchester club are keen on bringing the 26-year-old to the Premier League amidst his impressive performances at Euro 2024.

Olmo has been one of Spain's stand-out performers at the ongoing European Championship. The Spaniard has registered three goals and two assists in five games played, including the winning goal in the semifinal victory over France.

According to the aforementioned report, Olmo's future at RB Leipzig hangs in the balance as the midfielder is considering a move after four years with the Bundesliga club. The report states that there is a €60 million release clause in his current contract and the club has authorized discussions with interested clubs.

Speculations in recent weeks were that Olmo has been in negotiation with Barcelona. However, Manchester City have forcefully entered the race following multiple reports linked them to a move for the Spanish midfielder last week.

A move to the Etihad would benefit both sides, improving the squad quality for the club and enhancing the player's quality. It remains to be seen whether City will make a strong push to outdo competition from other clubs by activating the €60 million release clause. The clause is valid until Monday (July 15), as per Fabrizio Romano.

How have Manchester City performed in the 2024 summer transfer market?

Manchester City haven't been highly active in the 2024 summer transfer market so far. They yet to complete any major signings but have been linked to some high-profile players such as Bruno Guimaraes, Jamal Musiala, and most recently Dani Olmo, via Transfermarkt.

However, with Euro 2024 and Copa America coming to an end very soon, the transfer market will take center stage. The seven-times English championship should then intensify their actions in the transfer market.

Last term, Pep Guardiola bolstered his squad with the signings of Josko Gvardiol, Matheus Nunes, Jeremy Doku, and Mateo Kovacic. They defended the league title and finished as runners-up in the FA Cup. It will be interesting to see which other players will join the star-studded ranks at the Etihad ahead of the 2024-25 season.
