Manchester City won't stand in superstar's way if he decides to leave club amid Saudi links - Reports
Manchester City are reportedly open to selling goalkeeper Ederson Moraes if he decides to leave. Saudi Arabian sides are interested in signing him this summer transfer window.
Ederson has two years left on his contract with the Cityzens. He has been linked with a departure this summer, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Multiple Saudi Arabian sides are interested in bringing the Brazilian to their club.
Romano has now reported that City won't stand in Ederson's way if he decides to leave. The decision depends entirely on him, as the Italian journalist wrote on X:
"Éderson, in the list of Saudi clubs since May as revealed … and Man City won’t stand his way in case Brazilian GK decides to leave the club, as they extended Ortega’s contract."
Ederson joined Manchester City from Benfica for a reported fee of €40 million and has been their first-choice goalkeeper since. He has made 332 appearances, keeping 155 clean sheets. He's helped them win six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy, among other honors.
Manchester City has Stefan Ortega as Ederson's backup and recently extended his contract until 2026. He's kept 17 clean sheets in 34 appearances for the club.
Kevin De Bruyne opens up on his future at Manchester City
Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne has also been linked with a potential move to Saudi Arabia. He recently spoke about his future and expressed his desire to stay with City. He said that he is expecting a discussion with the club about a potential extension of his contract, which expires next year.
De Bruyne said (via Goal):
“I’ve read a lot of headlines, but I haven’t spoken to anyone. I hope I can last a few more years. Everyone knows I’m under contract at City for another year. And that I haven’t talked to anyone yet.
"I assume there will be talks with City in the next few months. If not, I will have to look for something else. But it’s hard to say what will happen. My summer will be very quiet. I will enjoy my holidays. And then I will return to City.”
De Bruyne, 33, is a club legend, having arrived at Manchester City from VfL Wolfsburg for a reported fee of €76 million in 2015. He has scored 102 goals and provided 170 assists in 382 games, winning numerous trophies.
