Manchester United add ex-Real Madrid defender with €35 million release clause to transfer shortlist: Reports
Manchester United have reportedly identified former Real Madrid left-back Miguel Gutierrez as one of their transfer targets this summer. The Spaniard is one of the seven names on United's list for defensive reinforcements.
The Red Devils struggled massively due to injuries in the 2023-24 season. The likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Harry Maguire all suffered injuries. Left-back Luke Shaw could make just 15 appearances while Tyrell Malacia didn't play a single game.
Hence, as per TEAMtalk, Manchester United's new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with his team, has identified Gutierrez as a potential signing. The Spaniard had an excellent 2023-24 campaign with Girona as they qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. He scored two goals and provided nine assists in 40 games across competitions.
Gutierrez, 22, came through Real Madrid's academy and made 10 senior appearances for them before moving to Girona in 2022. He has since made 76 appearances, recording four goals and 13 assists to his name. He has a release clause worth €35 million in his contract, which is set to expire in 2027.
Manchester United have also identified six other targets in other defensive positions. They are Jean-Clair Todibo, Jarrad Branthwaite, Tosin Adarabioyo, Gleison Bremer, Jeremie Frimpong, and Denzel Dumfries.
Manchester United interested in signing Real Madrid star: Reports
As per TEAMtalk, Manchester United are set to make an offer for on-loan Real Madrid striker Joselu. They have reportedly shown interest in him previously as well and would be prepared to offer him a two-year contract with €5 million per year wages. This would be an increase in his current wages.
Joselu is currently on loan at Real Madrid from Espanyol and has played an important part this season despite mostly starting from the bench. He has scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 48 games across competitions, 18 of which have been starts. He scored a brace to help his side make a comeback from 3-2 down on aggregate and beat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Los Blancos are reportedly interested in keeping Joselu at the club permanently despite being set to welcome Kylian Mbappe. However, a big offer from Manchester United could tempt them into parting ways. The Spaniard will also be interested in a move but only if Real Madrid don't make an offer.
