Manchester United agree personal terms with midfielder who rejected Chelsea last summer - Reports
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Chelsea were linked with a move for Ugarte before the Uruguayan eventually opted to join PSG.
As per Romano, United have agreed personal terms with the midfielder . He further added that negotiations are ongoing between the Parisians and the Red Devils and it could take a few days for the deal to reach key stages.
Ugarte, 23, is a defensive midfielder and could be a good replacement for Casemiro. The Brazilian was far from his best standards last season and the consensus is that he could be on borrowed time in a competitive league like the Premier League.
Casemiro has also been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Ugarte, meanwhile, was a key player for PSG in 2023-24, providing three assists in 37 games.
He is also a 22-time Uruguay international. While his Chelsea move didn't come to fruition, Ugarte could eventually join the Premier League with Manchester United this summer. Ugarte's current deal with the Parisians runs until the end of the 2027-28 season and the 23-year-old has an estimated market value of €45 million.
Manchester United not looking to sell ex-Chelsea ace Mason Mount: Fabrizio Romano
Reports percolated that Manchester United could look to offload Mason Mount in the summer after the former Chelsea star endured an injury-plagued first season at Old Trafford.
Mount made only 20 appearances, scoring once and providing one assist after his £55 million move from Stamford Bridge. Clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and more were listed as interested parties for Mount.
Romano, however, has rubbished those claims as he dismissed any selling plans. The transfer expert further added that Mount is keen on proving his worth and doing his best under Erik ten Hag this season.
Mount was a key player for the Blues, scoring 33 goals and providing 35 assists in 195 appearances for the club. United fans, though, are yet to see the best of the player.
