Manchester United approach 47-year-old coach amid uncertainty over Ruben Amorim appointment at Old Trafford: Reports

Manchester United have allegedly approached Fulham manager Marco Silva to fill in the void left by Erik ten Hag's recent dismissal.

Earlier on Monday (October 28), the Red Devils chose to fire Ten Hag from his role after the club crashed to a 2-1 Premier League loss at West Ham United. They will continue with former assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy as their interim manager for the time being.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have reportedly started working on a deal to name Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as their full-time boss. They are ready to pay Amorim's release clause of over £8 million.

However, the Red Devils could potentially be rejected by the Sporting CP manager in the near future. Spanish reporter Guillem Balague suggested that Amorim could wait for Pep Guardiola to step down at Manchester City and hence, Silva has been contacted by United.

Silva, who is a former Sporting CP and Everton boss, has helped Fulham establish themselves as a proper Premier League club over the last two seasons. He helped the London team finish 10th in the 2022-23 season before guiding them to a 13th-place finish last term.

Expert reveals what style of play would Ruben Amorim potentially bring to Manchester United

During a chat with Transfermarkt, journalist Goncalo Tristao Santos was queried to shed light on Ruben Amorim's tactics. He responded:

"He won the league title [in 2021] by primarily playing on the counterattack. Sporting were a team that played deeper down the field but quickly attacked the opponent's goal and it was very effective in scoring. However, in the following seasons, he ended up adapting Sporting's playing style and began to play differently with more ball possession and spending more time in the opponent's half."

Opining on Sporting CP's growth under Amorim, Santos added:

"The team did not win the league again, but Sporting's football became more attractive and unpredictable. In the 2022/23 season, Sporting finished in fourth place and had a very dull style of play, but it was a season that went completely wrong. However, this season, we are seeing the most dynamic Sporting side since Amorim's arrival."

Amorim has guided Sporting to two Primeira Liga titles and three other trophies so far. He has helped his side record 12 victories in 14 total matches, netting 40 goals and conceding just eight goals this season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, will next be in action in an EFL Cup last-16 clash against Leicester City on Wednesday (October 30).
