Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag holds direct talks with attacker who has £25m release clause: Reports

According to Diario AS, Manchester United are interested in signing Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov this summer. Erik ten Hag has held talks with the player regarding a move; Tsygankov has a £25 million release clause in his contract with the Catalan club.

Tsygankov, a Ukraine international, made 34 appearances across competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists. He was a key part of the high-flying Girona side that registered a third-place finish in La Liga last season, only behind Real Madrid and Barcelona.

While Manchester United hold an interest in Tsygankov, negotiations are not expected to be straightforward, as per Manchester Evening News. Girona are set to play in the UEFA Champions League in 2024-25 and are looking to build on the team they had last term.

Keeping hold of influential players like Tsygankov could be in their best interest. Tsygankov is an experienced campaigner at the international level as well, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 55 appearances across competitions. The 26-year-old started Ukraine's 3-0 loss to Romania at Euro 2024 before suffering fitness issues.

United have wingers like Antony and Alejandro Garnacho in their ranks. However, Jadon Sancho is expected to be sold and Antony's form has been far below expectations, meaning there could be room for improvement in terms of wide players.

Manchester United's Jadon Sancho stance

As per Sky Sports, Jadon Sancho has joined Manchester United's first-team training after holding positive talks with Erik ten Hag. Both parties reportedly reflected on past issues before deciding to move on.

Sancho is set to be a part of the team's pre-season and United reportedly want to monitor the player before deciding on his availability for the 2024-25 season.

Juventus reportedly wanted to make a summer move for Sancho, who impressed in his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund during the second half of the 2023-24 season. However, the Bianconeri would need to sell players to meet the Red Devils' £40 million valuation for the 24-year-old.
