Manchester United discuss surprise swap deal with Inter Milan involving Aaron Wan-Bissaka: Reports

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Inter Milan to sign right-back Denzel Dumfries. Interestingly, the Red Devils are said to be discussing a swap deal that would see Aaron Wan-Bissaka move the other way this summer.

As per a report in The Athletic, Manchester United planned a swap offer after the former Crystal Palace defender rejected a move to West Ham United. The right-back, however, is open to joining Inter Milan.

However, the move is still far from getting materialized as the discussions are still being done through intermediaries. The saving grace is that both teams are open to the move.

West Ham United were pushing to sign Wan-Bissaka this summer, but the defender has turned down the opportunity to join them. The Hammers have reportedly moved on to Noussair Mazraoui as an alternative and have even agreed on a deal with Bayern Munich.

The Moroccan star was also linked with Manchester United. He is said to be keen on leaving Bayern Munich as Joshua Kimmich has become the first-choice right-back at the club.

Manchester United target wants to stay at Inter Milan

Denzel Dumfries spoke about his Inter Milan future before the EURO 2024 and stated that he wanted to stay put. He claimed that the San Siro club was his home and said (via Metro):

"I want to stay. Inter is my home. I feel like I'm part of a family. There have already been discussions with the club directors. But all of us players know that negotiations have been delayed by the change in ownership. Right now I'm focused on the Euros. Then, we'll see what happens."

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio also spoke about the player's future with the club last month and said (via Metro):

"I spoke with Dumfries recently. Beyond his contract situation, which we'll attend to with his representatives in the next few days, Dumfries has expressed the desire to stay to me. Then, if other opportunities arrive that he'd like to take into consideration, we'll deal with those things in the right moment. But as of today, Dumfries is an Inter player and he confirmed to me that he wants to stay. So at the moment, we're not thinking about anything as far as the right flank other than our own players."

Manchester United are said to be in the market for a right-back and a left-back this summer.
