Manchester United emerge as transfer option for Premier League star as negotiations with Chelsea stall: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea target Jhon Duran in the summer transfer window. The news comes after a report from Antena 2 claimed that the Blues' talks over a move for the Aston Villa striker have stalled (via Manchester Evening News). Now, the Red Devils are seemingly prepared to swoop in and complete the deal.
While both clubs are looking to improve their frontline, Duran isn't the most proven Premier League player. He's second choice to Ollie Watkins at Villa Park and started just three English top-flight games last season.
Overall, the Colombia international bagged eight goals in 37 appearances across competitions in the 2023-24 season. There is a real opportunity for Duran to become the first choice at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag's side have failed to see the best of Rasmus Hojlund, who scored just 10 Premier League goals in 30 appearances last season. The same can be said about Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, who bagged 14 league strikes but was guilty of being heavily wasteful in front of goal.
While Duran may be targeting improved game time, both the Premier League giants struggled last season. Chelsea finished sixth in the league standings, while Manchester United were two places below the west Londoners.
On the other hand, Aston Villa finished in the top four to secure Champions League football for the upcoming season. However, Duran's exit seems quite possible as he is likely to prioritize game time over all else.
Manchester United and Chelsea battling for Premier League attacker's signature - Reports
Manchester United and Chelsea are in the hunt for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise this summer. However, a report from Foot Mercato claims that the Red Devils are unwilling to trigger the attacker's €70 million release clause (via One Football).
As a result, it is believed that the Blues are frontrunners to obtain the Frenchman's signature this summer. Olise had another good season with the Eagles, registering 10 goals and six assists in 19 Premier League games.
However, injuries continue to be a concern for the winger, who missed 18 league matches last season due to a hamstring issue.
Currently, Olise is contracted at Selhurst Park till the summer of 2027, meaning that Crystal Palace will look to secure a high transfer fee for the player.
