Manchester United inquire about Chelsea star considering his future, player does not want to play second fiddle in PL - Reports
Manchester United has reportedly inquired about Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku, according to a report by L'Équipe (via CFCPys). The Frenchman reportedly does not want to be a second-choice option in Enzo Maresca's squad.
Nkunku joined Chelsea for €60 million from RB Leipzig in July 2023. However, his first season at the club was plagued by numerous injury setbacks that kept him on the sidelines for months. His struggle with his fitness saw him register only 14 appearances for Chelsea in the 2023-24 campaign.
In the 2024-25 season, Nkunku has had a brilliant start, scoring eight goals and registering one assist in 15 games across competitions. He's primarily an attacking midfielder, but he could also play as a left-winger and center-forward.
An overview of Chelsea's attacking midfield could indicate that Cole Palmer is the first-choice option. The center-forward position is occupied by Nicolas Jackson while the left wing is rotated between Jadon Sancho and Mykhaylo Mudryk. As such, Nkunku is not the first choice in any of his preferred positions.
This could be why Nkunku might be considering his options in the transfer market, as Manchester United are currently monitoring him.
The 26-year-old is currently contracted at Chelsea till June 2029, making his potential move difficult and likely expensive.
Manchester United interested in signing Leroy Sane - Reports
Manchester United are currently interested in signing Leroy Sane, according to journalist Christian Falk (via Caught Offside).
The German international's current contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire next summer. This implies that Sane could become a free agent if he doesn't sign an extension with Bayern Munich.
In a bid to strengthen their attack, the Red Devils could be looking to sign him as a free agent. But they might face some degree of competition as Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Sane.
The 28-year-old has netted three goals in 11 appearances across competitions for Bayern Munich this season.
