Manchester United join Liverpool in race to sign 24-year-old French center-back: Reports
Manchester United have reportedly become the latest European giant to monitor Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen targets Oumar Solet. The two-cap France U20 international is set to leave Austrian outfit RB Salzburg this summer.
RMC Sport (via Get Football News France) reports that the Red Devils have added Solet to their wishlist. He impressed at Red Bull Arena last season, helping his side keep 12 clean sheets in 28 games across competitions. He also contributed two goals and one assist.
Solet is also in Liverpool and West Ham United's sights, and he is tempted by a move to the Premier League. All three English clubs are set to bolster their defenses this summer.
The former Lyon youngster also has interest from the Bundesliga. Last season's champions, Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart, and Borussia Dortmund, are all keeping tabs.
Solet will be allowed to leave Salzburg if an offer of around €12–15 million is made. He has a year left on his contract, so he is available on a cut-price deal.
Manchester United are set for a busy summer transfer window under INEOS' control. They need to replace Raphael Varane, who will leave when his contract expires at the end of this month.
Liverpool are also set for a defensive shakeup as Arne Slot gets to work at Anfield after succeeding Jurgen Klopp. The Reds need to replace Joel Matip, who also departs this month.
Manchester United and Liverpool will reportedly continue to pursue Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro is one of Europe's hottest commodities and is viewed as a generational defensive talent. Manchester United and Liverpool are huge admirers of the 18-year-old LOSC Lille center-back.
CaughtOffside reports that Yoro remains a top target for the Premier League giants despite the French starlet preferring a move to Real Madrid. Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race.
Lille need to sell this summer as he has a year on his contract and are expected to do so for around €50 million. Liverpool wants to give him a long-term contract with an annual salary of €6-7 million.
Manchester United are set to hold further discussions about the operation later this month. They are also chasing Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite but failed with an offer last week for the English defender.
Yoro appeared 44 times across competitions last season, helping Lille keep 20 clean sheets. He also bagged three goals and is viewed as a future megastar in French football.
