Manchester United make offer for Fenerbahce star as Ten Hag looks to bolster squad - Reports
As per Sporx Today (via centredevils), Manchester United have made an offer for Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu. The Red Devils are looking to bolster their left-back options this summer after suffering from injury concerns in the position last season.
First-choice left-back Luke Shaw missed 34 games in the 2023-24 campaign due to muscle injuries and his back-up, Tyrell Malacia, didn't play a single minute due to injury issues. The Red Devils signed Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, but decided to send him back in January when Shaw returned to fitness.
However, the decision backfired as the Englishman suffered another injury and Erik ten Hag had to field Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof at left-back in the second-half of the campaign.
The Dutch manager wants to avoid the same situation this season and the club have set their sights on Kadioglu, who impressed with Fenerbahce last season. The Netherlands-born Turkey international can also play as a right-back. He has so far made 203 appearances for Fenerbahce, scoring 18 goals and providing 22 assists.
Kadioglu played 51 matches last season, helping the team finish second in the Turkish Super Lig and reach the quarterfinals of the Turkish Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
While Manchester United are interested in Kadioglu's services, they face competition from fellow Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. United have reportedly offered more payment up front, but Brighton's deal is worth more inclusive of add-ons and other variables.
Marco Silva keeps the door open for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay
According to reports, Premier League side Fulham have had a £23 million bid rejected for Scott McTominay. Manchester United reportedly want £30 million for the 27-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract.
Fulham manager Marco Silva, however, has kept the door open for McTominay's arrival. Silva claimed that the club are going to sign a player in midfield.
"We are going to sign a player. We are pleased that we have Sasa Lukic and Harrison Reed who can play in that position. But yes, we are going to sign a player in that position," Silva said (via United in Focus).
Despite scoring ten goals and providing three assists in 43 appearances last season, McTominay is not an undisputed starter at Manchester United. He could be a handy player for Fulham.
The Cottagers, however, face competition from teams like Napoli and Bournemouth for the Scottish midfielder.
