Manchester United plot loan move for midfielder who rejected Chelsea last summer - Reports

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Manuel Ugarte, who turned down a potential move to Chelsea last summer. They want to sign the Uruguayan on a loan deal this summer over a permanent transfer.

Ugarte joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Sporting CP last summer for a reported transfer fee of €60 million. Chelsea were also heavily linked with the midfielder but the Parisians offered a better financial package, as per Goal. He has now again been linked with a move away this summer.

As per GiveMeSport, Manchester United are interested in signing Ugarte this summer. However, his contract with PSG expires in 2028 and the Parisians are unwilling to sell at a lower fee. They will demand in excess of £45 million. Hence, the Red Devils are looking to sign him on an initial loan deal.

A loan move would allow United to focus on other signings this summer. They have already signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5 million and are reportedly set to sign Leny Yoro from Lille for £50 million. They are now looking for a potential Casemiro replacement and also want to sign Ugarte.

PSG, however, would be unwilling to let him leave on a loan deal. He made 37 appearances across competitions for them last season, providing three assists. He is currently on holiday after helping Uruguay to third place in Copa America 2024.

As per the aforementioned report, Ugarte would be interested in joining Manchester United if a deal between the two clubs goes through.
