Manchester United plot move for 24-year-old star amid Real Madrid and Barcelona interest - Reports

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Real Madrid and Barcelona target Alphonso Davies. As reported by journalist Christian Falk (via mufcpmb on X), the Red Devils have registered concrete interest in the Canada international.

According to the aforementioned report, Manchester United is ready to offer the attacking left-back significantly higher wages than other clubs. Davies' future has been subject to speculation for a while now due to his contract situation at Bayern Munich.

His current deal at the Allianz Arena expires next summer, and the Bavarian giants have failed in multiple attempts to renew it. In recent months, the 24-year-old has been named a major target for both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Canada international has been one of the best full-backs in Europe since joining Bayern Munich in 2018 from Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He has made 210 appearances for the German giants, having contributed with 11 goals and 34 assists.

Davies has been highly successful at the Bavarian club, having won 13 trophies including five Bundesliga titles and one Champions League. Having been capped 56 times for Canada, he has scored 15 times and produced 18 assists.

Manchester United clearly need reinforcements at left-back with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having struggled with injuries since last season. Malacia has not played a single minute since the 2022-23 season. Meanwhile, Shaw only made 15 appearances last campaign and hasn't featured this season.

Ruben Amorim has given green light for the sale of Manchester United flop: Reports

Newly-appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly given the nod over the sale of Antony in January 2025. As reported by The Daily Star, the Portuguese master tactician has decided to part ways with the big-money flop.

Antony will arguably go down as one of the biggest flops in the history of the club, having failed to live up to his massive £82 million price tag. The Brazilian followed Erik ten Hag from Ajax to Old Trafford in 2022 but never really managed to impress in English football.

In 87 appearances for the Red Devils so far, the 24-year-old has only been able to find the back of the net 12 times while providing five assists. He has played only 155 minutes of football this campaign having fallen down in Ten Hag's pecking order. It is understood that Manchester United are ready to sell Antony in January or even sanction a loan deal if a permanent move does not materialize.
