Manchester United plotting move to sign 21-year-old Bundesliga star: Reports

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala. They have also opened talks to try to sign him, as per Fichajes.net (via The Hard Tackle).

Manchester United have had a tough start to the 2024-25 season and have won just four of their 14 games across competitions. They sit 14th in the Premier League table and 21st in the UEFA Europa League table. This saw Erik ten Hag get sacked on Monday, October 28.

The Red Devils have now appointed Ruben Amorim as their new manager and he will start his tenure at the club on November 11. The club hierarchy are already planning to make some big signings to strengthen their squad and have identified Musiala as a target.

The German midfielder's contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire in 2026. If he doesn't sign a new contract, the Bavarians could look to sell him next summer instead of letting him leave for free in 2026. As per the aforementioned report, Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in signing him.

Musiala, 21, has been part of English football in the past, having made three appearances for Chelsea's U18 side. He then joined Bayern's academy in 2019 and has contributed 50 goals and 35 assists in 174 senior appearances for them. He's been in prolific form this season, registering seven goals and four assists in 11 games across competitions.

Bayern legend urges Jamal Musiala to stay amidst interest from Manchester United

Jamal Musiala is one of the most prominent players whose future at Bayern Munich is under speculation alongside Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich. The youngster has been linked with a potential move to Manchester United.

However, amidst such links, Bayern legend Thomas Muller has urged Musiala to stay with the German giants, saying (via Bavarian Football Works):

“I think Jamal knows how important he is to the fans, how much people love him. Not just at Bayern, but in all of Germany. I think he would do well to think about it three, four, five times — that’s if he’s even thinking at all about not staying here.”

As per Transfermarkt, Musiala's market value is €130 million. However, it could reduce significantly next summer if he still has one year remaining on his contract.

If the German does join Manchester United or any other club next summer, Bayern could move to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz. However, they will have to compete with the likes of Real Madrid for his signature.
