Manchester United ready to send flop out on loan this summer after Ten Hag makes up with Jadon Sancho: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly open to allowing Antony to leave this summer amid Jadon Sancho's potential reinstatement into Erik ten Hag's first team. The English winger has settled his differences with the Dutch coach after their well-documented falling out last year.
ESPN's Mark Ogden reports that Antony will be allowed to leave on loan if a club will take on his £70,000-per-week salary. The Brazilian winger has struggled since arriving at Old Trafford from Ajax in September 2022 for a reported £82 million.
Antony, 24, managed three goals and two assists in 38 games across competitions last season. He lost his place in Erik ten Hag's starting XI, with left-winger Alejandro Garnacho preferred as a makeshift right-winger.
The decision comes amid Sancho's return to Manchester United and reconciliation with Ten Hag. The duo have made up after the attacker publicly took aim at his manager. He was banished from the coach's first team and sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund during the second half of last season.
Sancho, 24, has similarly stuttered during his United career since arriving from Dortmund for £73 million in July 2021. He's registered 12 goals and six assists in 82 games across competitions.
The 23-cap England international got back to his best when returning to Signal Iduna Park in January. He posted three goals and as many assists in 21 games across competitions, part of the BvB side that finished runners-up in the UEFA Champions League.
Sancho could now find his way back into Ten Hag's plans and reclaim a starting berth at Old Trafford. He's trained with the squad ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States.
Sancho looks increasingly likely to stay at Manchester United as Juventus reportedly look elsewhere
Juventus have been the European giant most strongly linked with Sancho this summer. The Serie A giants have the Englishman on their list of options to bolster their attack.
However, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports that Juve have now shifted their focus to Dortmund's Karem Adeyemi. This could result in them dropping their interest in Sancho.
Ten Hag spoke after making up with Sancho last week, and he told reporters that they had drawn a line under the situation. He said:
"We’ve drawn the line, we move on. Manchester United need good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on, yes."
Sancho could be back on Dortmund's radar if they lose Adeyemi. The Bundesliga giants were reportedly considering re-signing him permanently after his loan expired. He has two years left on his contract with Manchester United.
