Manchester United set to hold talks with Euro 2024 star who has agreed personal terms with Arsenal: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly set to hold talks with Fedi Kadioglu's representatives about a potential transfer as they look to hijack Arsenal's move for the Turkiye star. The Netherlands-born left-back impressed at Euro 2024 and is on the two Premier League rivals' agenda.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reports that the Red Devils will hold talks with Kadioglu's entourage. They are hoping to prise the 24-year-old away from Fenerbahce, valued at around €35-40 million.
Arsenal had looked favorites to sign Kadioglu, having agreed on personal terms with the versatile full-back, per Express Sport. The 20-cap Turkiye international caught the eye at Euro 2024, appearing in all five of his nation's games.
However, the Gunners are also interested in Bologna's Italian left-back Riccardo Calafiori. That could help Manchester United in their attempts to win the race for Kadioglu.
Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen his defense this summer following an injury-ridden 2023-24 campaign. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were both sidelined for most, if not all, of the season.
Kadioglu offers versatility as he can also play at right-back and was a standout performer for Fenerbahce last season. He posted three goals and five assists in 51 games across competitions. He also has Eredivisie experience, which could persuade Ten Hag to move for him given his recent transfer operations from the Dutch top flight.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly trying to block Arsenal and Manchester United target Ferdi Kadioglu's potential sale
TEAMtalk reports that new Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho will likely strongly oppose Kadioglu's sale. The iconic Portuguese tactician became the Turkish giants' new coach last month.
Manchester United and Arsenal are joined by Wolverhampton Wanderers and one unnamed Premier League club in the race. The English outlet also claims the Red Devils will meet with the player's representatives about a potential move.
Mourinho could hinder United's quest to bring the Turkish left-back to Old Trafford. He likes the player a lot, but his attempts to prevent his sale will likely fall on deaf ears at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
Borussia Dortmund already pulled out of the race to sign Kadioglu because they were unable to exceed their €20 million valuation. A move to the Premier League looks most likely for the former NEC Nijmegen man.
Arsenal have long admired Kadioglu, having reportedly couted him earlier last year. The scouting reports gave the recruitment team a glowing verdict, which led to them intensifying their interest in the left-back.
