Manchester United set to pay release clause for Ruben Amorim - Reports

Sporting CP have announced that Manchester United are triggering Ruben Amorim's release clause. The Red Devils are looking to appoint the Portuguese manager as Erik ten Hag's replacement.

A Bola have reported that Sporting CP have received the communication from the Red Devils. The official statement from the club, published by the Portuguese publication, read:

"Manchester United FC expressed an interest in hiring coach RĂºben Amorim, with the Board of Directors of Sporting SAD referring to the terms and conditions set out in the employment contract in force between the Company and the coach, specifically the respective termination clause and the amount of Euro 10,000,000.00; 2. Manchester United FC expressed an interest in paying Sporting SAD the amount of the aforementioned clause."

Sporting CP had to release a statement on Tuesday (October 29) as they are listed on the stock market. Manchester United are now in talks with the club to hire Amorim this week. However, he will not be appointed in time to take charge of the Red Devils against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, October 30.

Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday after a poor start to the season. The Red Devils are keen on getting the new manager in by the time they face Chelsea in the league this weekend (November 3).

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as the interim manager this week and has taken training ahead of the Carabao Cup clash.

Manchester United told to appoint former Arsenal manager by Dwight Yorke

Dwight Yorke believes Unai Emery is the perfect manager for Manchester United and wants his former club to appoint the Aston Villa man. The Spaniard was also in charge of Arsenal but got sacked by the club in 2019 after failing to deliver at the Emirates.

Yorke told Safe Casino Sites:

"What I'm about to say might baffle the football world, but if it was me, I would go and get Unai Emery from Villa. He's the guy that United needs right now. Zidane is a sexier name, but he's always been reluctant to come because his English isn't very good."
"That's been well documented. He's definitely in the elite managers category. I think Unai Emery is the one manager right now who can match and compete with the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Zinedine Zidane and Pep. I'm not going to be very popular at my old club for saying it, but Emery is the best candidate given Zidane's reluctance to come to England. He is the man that I would go out and do everything to try and get," he added.

Unai Emery has not been linked with the vacant position at Old Trafford by any media outlet so far. Ruben Amorim is reported to be the frontrunner, with Thomas Frank and Julian Nagelsmann linked with the club since yesterday.

Thomas Tuchel was linked with the job in the summer but the German has taken over as the new England manager this month. Mauricio Pochettino was also said to be in the race, but the former Chelsea manager is now the head coach of the United States men's team.
