Manchester United star unhappy with start to life at club following summer move: Reports
Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly disappointed with his time at Manchester United so far after joining this summer. The Dutchman is said to be frustrated with his limited contribution to the team's cause and believes he deserves more chances.
As per a report in CalcioMercato, Zirkzee could be available for loan in the January window as Ruben Amorim takes over. The report claims that the Dutchman might not get enough opportunities going forward, especially if the club sign Sporting CP's Viktor Gyökeres.
Kia Joorabchian, the agent of the former Bologna star, is currently scouting for options, and Juventus is said to be a possible destination. The Old Lady are open to getting the striker in on loan but not permanently.
Netherlands legend Gullit spoke to Gazzetta earlier this season and suggested that the Dutchman made a mistake by joining Manchester United. He claimed that the striker should have joined AC Milan instead of moving to Old Trafford, opining:
“Zirkzee would have done better to say yes to Milan instead of moving to Man United in England. He knew Serie A and another couple of seasons in this league would have been very useful for his maturation but at a top club like Milan.
"Now instead he is at a club that has so many problems and that does not facilitate his growth. I hope he manages to reverse the trend after an inevitable period of acclimatisation. He’s good, no doubt about that, but at United, it’s hard to do well at such a moment in history.”
Manchester United shelled out €42.5 million to sign Zirkzee from Bologna – paying a premium on his release clause to make the payment in instalments.
AC Milan told to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United
Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti has reported that Joshua Zirkzee is no longer in Manchester United's plans despite just joining them this summer. He claimed that the striker was uncomfortable at Old Trafford, saying (via Calciomercato):
"Zirkzee is not wanted in Manchester anymore. He performed poorly against Aston Villa. Zirkzee had hinted that he wasn't ready for the Premier League; he wanted Milan, but then there was the whole story about commissions. Today, Zirkzee is an uncomfortable player. I would like the management to pull off a theatrical move.
"Zirkzee should be taken on loan in January; they would give him to you. Next year, there will still be things to see in attack. Let's leave Morata up front. Imagine an attack with Pulisic, Leao, Zirkzee, and Morata. It would be spectacular; fans would return to San Siro to have fun. With Zirkzee, enthusiasm would return among the fans."
Zirkzee has scored just one goal in the Premier League, which came in his debut for the club. He has not scored in any of his 10 league games since, nor has he managed to get on the scoresheet in the six matches in cup competitions.
