Manchester United star wanted by 3 Premier League clubs; Red Devils prepared to let him go ahead of January transfer window: Reports
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is wanted by Newcastle United, Everton, and West Ham United, according to CaughtOffside (via SPORTbible). The Swedish defender is a peripheral figure at Old Trafford at the moment and has registered just eight appearances across competitions this season.
The 30-year-old's contract with the Premier League giants expires next summer and he hasn't been handed a new deal yet. Although Lindelof is expected to leave at the end of this season, Manchester United could let him go for £6-7m in January.
Red Devils' new head coach Ruben Amorim has implemented a 3-4-3 system at Old Trafford. However, Lindelof has registered just one minute of action under the Portuguese and doesn't appear to be part of his plans.
The player won't be short of options if he wants to leave Manchester United. Apart from the Premier League trio, the Swede also has admirers in the Serie A, with AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, Lazio, and Fiorentina all eyeing him with interest. The report added that the player was willing to leave in search of a new adventure.
Recent reports have suggested that former Red Devils interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy wants a reunion with Lindelof at the King Power Stadium. The Dutchman recently took charge at Leicester City and is looking for a new defender.
Will Harry Maguire sign a new deal with Manchester United?
While Victor Lindelof's time at Manchester United could come to an end, Harry Maguire could extend his stay at Old Trafford. The English defender was outstanding in their 2-1 win over Manchester City over the weekend (December 15), keeping the dangerous Erling Haaland at bay.
Maguire has received tremendous criticism during his time with the Red Devils, and his future remains uncertain. This season, he has appeared 13 times across competitions, eight of which have been starts. The 31-year-old's contract with the Premier League giants expires at the end of this campaign and he hasn't signed a new deal yet.
However, speaking recently (as cited by GOAL), the Englishman insisted that he has held positive talks with Manchester United regarding his future.
“I haven’t really thought about it. I’ve still got this year to go with an option in their hands. But all the signs are positive at the moment and the chat that I’m having is really positive,” Maguire said.
The Red Devils reportedly paid Leicester City £80m for Maguire in 2019.
