Manchester United suffer blow in pursuit of 28-year-old Bundesliga star amid Arsenal interest: Reports

Leroy Sane prefers a move to Arsenal over Manchester United, according to Caught Offside. The German forward's contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of this season and he hasn't signed a new deal yet.

The 28-year-old already has experience of playing in the Premier League with Manchester City. Mikel Arteta worked with Sane during their time together at the Etihad Stadium and is keen for a reunion in north London.

The Gunners signed Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on loan this summer to upgrade their attack. However, a permanent stay in north London is unlikely to materialize.

Arsenal apparently have identified Sane as the ideal replacement for Sterling. However, they will face competition from Manchester United in the race for the German forward.

The Red Devils are preparing for a fresh start under Ruben Amorim, who has replaced Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. The former Sporting manager is likely to invest in his squad in 2025, with the attack failing to impress so far.

Sane has been in and out of the starting XI under Vincent Kompany this season, registering three goals from 11 games. He has started just two games for Bayern Munich this term, which could have a bearing on their decision regarding his future.

Arsenal and Newcastle United would have liked to move for the player in January, but the Bundesliga giants will only let him go for a hefty fee.

Sane's family was reportedly unsettled in Manchester during his time at City. As such, the player could prefer to move to London instead, which would be a blow for Manchester United.

Leroy Sane may not be the only Bundesliga star Arsenal and Manchester United fight over in 2025. The Gunners were eager to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer but failed to get a deal across the line.

The north London side are still lacking a proper No. 9 in their ranks, with Gabriel Jesus failing to impress. Recent reports from GOAL have suggested that Arsenal have retained their interest in Sesko.

The Slovenian has been impressive for RB Leipzig this season, registering seven goals and three assists from 15 games across competitions.

Sesko signed a new contract with the Bundesliga side this summer but will reportedly be allowed to leave for €70-75m in 2025. Manchester United are apparently keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old's situation as well, as they aim to end their goalscoring issues once and for all.
