Manchester United told to pay £30 million to sign midfielder this summer: Reports
EFL Championship outfit Burnley have reportedly slapped a price tag of £30 million on Manchester United-linked midfielder Sander Berge.
The Red Devils, who are allegedly hoping to part ways with Casemiro this summer, are currently on the hunt for a new midfielder. They are reportedly keeping tabs on Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte, but are yet to lodge a bid owing to the star's £51 million price tag.
Earlier this month, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth reported that Manchester United have identified a host of alternatives to Ugarte. They are keen to sign Berge among other options, which include the likes of Youssouf Fofana, Sofyan Amrabat, and Martin Zubimendi.
Now, according to The Sun, Burnley have announced that they will be open to bids in the region of £30 million for Berge. However, Erik ten Hag's outfit are believed to be prepared to dish out only £20 million.
Berge, who would reportedly earn £100,000-per-week should he join United, made 40 appearances across competitions for Burnley past campaign. He registered two goals and as many assists along the way.
Prior to joining Burnley for around £12 million last summer, Berge spent three-and-a-half seasons at Sheffield United. The 26-year-old scored 15 goals and registered 12 assists in 109 overall matches for them.
Manchester United not in advanced talks to sign Adrien Rabiot, says Fabrizio Romano
Speaking on YouTube channel The United Stand, reliable transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano provided insight into Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot's future. The Italian said (h/t GiveMeSport):
"Rabiot, at the moment, is a player [United] discussed with his mother, his agent, several times years ago. But also, this summer, they were offered the possibility to go for Adrien Rabiot."
Claiming that United are not in advanced talks, Romano concluded:
"At the moment, I'm not aware of anything really advanced on this one. I know the focus of Manchester United is on something else. But, with free agents sometimes, you can be very fast in the negotiations. You don't even need to talk to clubs. So, you can agree with players in a few hours and try to close the deal."
Rabiot, 29, is currently a free agent after exiting Juventus at the end of his contract earlier this June. He helped the Bianconeri win four trophies, bagging 22 goals and recording 15 assists in 212 matches.
Should Rabiot join Manchester United this summer, he would emerge as a regular starter alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.
