Manchester United working on deal to sign Liverpool transfer target, Red Devils positive over reaching agreement with player - Reports

Manchester United are reportedly working to sign Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman is a free agent after leaving Juventus following the expiration of his contract.

As per a report in Caught Offside, Manchester United are confident of agreeing a deal with Rabiot. The talks between the player and the Red Devils are going well, and an agreement is close.

Rabiot was quizzed about his future in a press conference during EURO 2024 and stated that nothing was decided. He claimed that his focus was on the national team and said:

“I have not made any decisions yet. I don’t know what will happen, but I don’t want to talk about that. I think the fans understand I am focused on the Euros and we’ll see what happens later. My focus is 100 per cent here, then obviously I am also in contact with the club. I will decide after the European Championship.”

Rabiot remains a target for Liverpool but the Frenchman is reportedly not looking for a move to Anfield. He was also linked with Barcelona and Arsenal this summer.

Liverpool were urged to sign Manchester United target by John Barnes

John Barnes spoke to MyBettingSites earlier this summer and stated that Adrien Rabiot was the best player Liverpool could sign this summer. He heaped praise on the Manchester United target and stated that the EURO 2024 performances were top-notch. He said:

“Well, I think that that role is by playing at number six, that holding role. Rabiot, you know he doesn’t necessarily play as a holding midfield player. But he will defend. He got far with his team in France (at EURO 2024)."
"He’s a good player. He’s on a free. So he’s a good one to take because, you know, he’s always been consistent. So I wouldn’t mind seeing him come in. He’s good on the ball. He’s a good defensive midfield player who could also break forward and make passes. Not going to score many goals, but I think he’d be a good addition to the squad, particularly if he’s on a free.”

Rabiot started all matches for France except the quarterfinals against Portugal due to suspension. He could not help them get into the final as they lost 2-1 to eventual winners Spain in the semifinal.
