Many Spanish clubs have threatened to go to court if LaLiga approves Barcelona's registration of Dani Olmo: Reports

Many Spanish clubs have reportedly threatened to go to court if LaLiga allows Barcelona to register Dani Olmo this season. The reports come amid the Catalans facing a looming crisis to register Olmo for the remaining half of the ongoing season.

LaLiga had set a deadline of December 31 for Barcelona to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in accordance with its Financial Fair Play rules. However, the Catalans have failed to register them. Despite their multiple appeals to commercial and investigative courts, no verdict was ruled in favor of Barca. The club has yet to find a solution to register both players despite having crossed the deadline.

According to SPORT journalist Albert Masnou, multiple Spanish clubs could go to court against LaLiga president Javier Tebas if they approve Barcelona's registration of Dani Olmo. The clubs are reportedly arguing against Barca getting alleged preferential treatment from LaLiga.

The report suggests that some LaLiga clubs are collaborating to file a lawsuit to declare the league invalid if LaLiga officials change their minds regarding Olmo's situation. These clubs feel Barca's situation stems from financial mismanagement at the club and they should not be given the benefit of the doubt.

Meanwhile, Dani Olmo can choose to leave Barca as a free agent in January if the registration issue is unresolved. He is free to negotiate with other clubs since January 1, 2025. According to Fabrizio Romano, Olmo is willing to wait for the Catalan side to resolve the issue.

According to an earlier report by SPORT today, Barcelona are confident of registering Dani Olmo and Pau Victor despite LaLiga's issues. The Catalans have reportedly confirmed that their deal for the sale of VIP boxes in the future Spotify Camp Nou has been approved.

The deal is expected to generate major revenue for the club that can enable the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and help Barca return to the 1:1 rule. La Blaugrana are confident that the Spanish football governing body (RFEF) will approve the agreement.

Barcelona's argument is based on Article 130.2 of the RFEF’s General Regulations. The provision allows registration under exceptional circumstances. However, all licenses obtained by clubs via the RFEF also require LaLiga's final approval.

Barca's current goal is to secure the necessary approvals from LaLiga before Hansi Flick's press conference ahead of their Copa del Rey clash against Barbastro.
