Michael Olise set for stunning increase in wages after snubbing Chelsea and Manchester United for Bayern Munich - Reports

Michael Olise is reportedly set to become one of the highest earners at Bayern Munich after choosing the Bundesliga giants over Chelsea and Manchester United. The French winger has been one of European football's in-demand wingers this summer and has opted to leave the Premier League for Germany's top flight.

BILD Sport reports that Olise is set to be handed a wage similar to Bayern's Leroy Sane, who earns £10 million per month. The young winger is set to join the Bavarians from Crystal Palace, and his reported £65 million release clause is set to be triggered.

Chelsea were heavily interested in Olise, 22, after initially missing out on him last summer. They appeared to be leading the race to sign him, but he'll now earn around £220,000 per-week at the Allianz Arena.

Olise was enticed by the prospect of playing UEFA Champions League football. Bayern, Chelsea, and Newcastle United contacted Palace about a potential deal for the Frenchman.

Manchester United and Manchester City were also interested but never made a concrete move for Olise, per The Athletic. Many felt the Red Devils were waiting to make significant sales to then focus their attention on their attack.

Olise impressed at Selhurst Park last season, registering 10 goals and six assists in 19 games across competitions. He'll link up with Vincent Kompany in Munich after the Burnley boss replaced Thomas Tuchel at the helm.

Manchester United were hesitant regarding swooping for Olise as INEOS gets to work overhauling Erik ten Hag's squad. The Red Devils must be cautious with their spending and are expected to sell Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood to help them rebuild.

The Mirror reports that United and City made last-ditch moves for Olise before he agreed to join Bayern. The two Manchester rivals' bids were with a view to completing a deal over 12 months rather than paying the full amount up front.

Chelsea reportedly pulled out of the race just moments before Olise's decision to join Bayern was revealed. The Blues looked hellbent on bringing him to Stamford Bridge and making him one of Enzo Maresca's first signings.

The west London giants decided that the finances involved were too much. They were given permission to speak to Olise but felt the operation went beyond their financial interests, per The Athletic.
