Newcastle United ready to make move for Chelsea star: Reports
Newcastle United are allegedly interested in adding Chelsea winger Noni Madueke to their ranks in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Madueke, 22, has established himself as a key rotational option for the Blues since leaving PSV Eindhoven for close to £30 million in January 2023. He has started 26 of his 46 appearances for his club so far.
Now, according to The Boot Room, Newcastle are willing to ramp up their efforts to sign Madueke after Pedro Neto's £54 million transfer to the Blues. Madueke is said to have been left unsettled by the Portuguese's arrival at the west London outfit on a seven-year contract.
Madueke, who is currently valued at £30 million, is reportedly open to joining Eddie Howe's team this summer. With the Blues hoping to make room in their squad, the Magpies are expected to table a bid soon.
The left-footed ex-Tottenham Hotspur youth star has found the back of the net nine times and provided three assists for Enzo Maresca's side.
Chelsea could sell 7 stars, says journalist
In his column for Caught Offside, reputed reporter Fabrizio Romano offered insight into the futures of a host of Chelsea players. He wrote:
"There are a few players now out of the project... Romelu Lukaku, who has a three-year deal in place with Napoli, but also Kepa Arrizabalaga who is still dreaming of Real Madrid. As well as that, Armando Broja is no longer training with the first-team, and it's the same with Trevoh Chalobah. Both players are on the market, with Chalobah's asking price at around £30 million."
Shedding light on the current situations of two youngsters, he added:
"It's also important to say that David Datro Fofana is another player who could leave on a permanent transfer, or on loan with an obligation. There has been speculation about other potential exits as well, with Carney Chukwuemeka linked with Barcelona. Still, my understanding is that there is nothing concrete. Chelsea have not received any bid for Chukwuemeka and the situation is quiet."
Opining on Raheem Sterling's latest links with Juventus, he concluded:
"Chelsea have also not received proposals from Juventus for Raheem Sterling, and Sterling has received no contact from Italy yet, despite rumors. What I'm told is that Juventus are working on the Nico Gonzalez deal with Fiorentina as their priority for new winger."
So far this summer, the Blues have offloaded three first-team players.
The west London club will open their 2024-25 Premier League season with a home contest against Manchester City on Sunday (August 18).
