Newcastle United send scouts to watch Chelsea star as they eye summer move - Reports
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the summer.
Gallagher came through the Blues' academy and has made 87 senior appearances for them so far. As per Chronicle Live, while the midfielder doesn't necessarily wants to leave, the club are looking to sell him. The west London side are in danger of breaching Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules and need to sell players to raise finances.
Gallagher's contract is set to expire in 2025 and Chelsea are looking for a potential transfer fee of around £40 million. Newcastle United are interested in signing him for a while now and have even sent scouts to the Blues' recent games. They were in attendance at the west London side's 4-3 win over Manchester United earlier this month.
Gallagher has been excellent for Mauricio Pochettino's side this season and is their captain amidst injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell. He has made 42 appearances across competitions, scoring five goals and providing eight assists.
West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with an interest in signing the Englishman this summer.

The Blues are set to face Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday, April 20. Ahead of the big clash, Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi have returned to training, as per 90min. The duo missed Chelsea's 6-0 hammering of Everton in the Premier League on Monday, April 15.
Fernandez has been dealing with an abdominal issue for a while now and could even need to undergo surgery to deal with it permanently. As per the aforementioned report, he might choose to go under the knife after the semi-finals or at the end of the season.
The Argentine has made 38 appearances across competitions for Chelsea this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. Disasi, meanwhile, has made 40 appearances and also contributed three goals. The likes of Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Robert Sanchez, and Raheem Sterling are expected to remain out for Chelsea against Manchester City.
The two sides have met twice this season already in the Premier League with both encounters being thrilling affairs. While the first clash at Stamford Bridge ended in a 4-4 draw in November, they played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in February.
