Paris Saint-Germain plotting audacious move for Real Madrid superstar after losing Kylian Mbappe last summer: Reports
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly eyeing a move for Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe in the capital city. The Brazilian star is reportedly unsettled in the Spanish capital and is prepared to consider his future amid interest from elsewhere.
PSG have been known as a club that have always attracted top football stars, at least, since the arrival of Qatari investment in the club in 2011. The exit of Kylian Mbappe in the summer means that for the first time in over 13 years, Les Parisiens are without an A-list attacking star.
Luis Enrique's side are prepared, according to Relevo, (via Get Football News France) to make a move to sign Vinicius Jr from Real Madrid as retaliation for Mbappe. The Spanish giants signed Mbappe as a free agent in the summer after the forward ran down his contract with the 12-time Ligue 1 champions.
Real Madrid are keen to keep Vinicius Jr, whose contract with them is valid until the summer of 2027, as he is one of the focal points of their project. The 24-year-old narrowly missed out on becoming the first Brazilian Ballon d'Or winner since Kaka in 2007 this week, coming second behind Rodri.
Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is reported to be keen to open talks with Vinicius Jr at the earliest opportunity for a contract extension. The former Flamengo man is said to be unwilling to enter into negotiations so soon, having only just signed a new contract in October 2023.
At this stage of his career, Vinicius Jr would be looking to sign a contract with an extremely lucrative salary package. With interest from not just PSG but also Chelsea, Manchester United, and Al-Nassr, the forward has enough options on his table.
Former France manager rules out Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe from co-existing with Vinicius Jr
Former France manager Raymond Domenech has revealed his thoughts on France superstar Kylian Mbappe performing at his best with Real Madrid. The 25-year-old has got off to a rocky start since making the switch from PSG to the Spanish capital in the summer.
Domenech spoke to Radio Sportiva about the situation surrounding the former PSG man at the European champions. The former manager shared that he believes Mbappe can win the Ballon d'Or at Real Madrid, but Vinicius Jr has to leave the side. He said (via Footboom):
"For Mbappe, this would be his first time. I believe it is possible (winning the Ballon d'Or), and he can achieve this while playing for Real Madrid. However, I think Vinicius and Mbappe cannot play together. One of them must change."
Kylian Mbappe's struggles were clearly pronounced by his disappointing performance in El Clasico last weekend as Los Blancos lost 4-0. He was caught offside eight times in the game and also missed two big chances. The Frenchman has, however, scored six goals and provided one assist in 10 LaLiga appearances this season, a decent return.
