Premier League club reach agreement to sign Jean-Clair Todibo after Manchester United were blocked from transfer: Reports
West Ham United have reportedly reached an agreement with Nice to sign Jean-Clair Todibo this summer after Manchester United were blocked from completing the transfer. The Athletic claims the France international will arrive on a season-long loan with an option to buy (via The Sun).
The Red Devils were linked with the 24-year-old earlier in the summer when they were in the market for a centre-back. However, this deal was blocked by UEFA after Nice and Manchester United qualified for the Europa League, with both teams under the control of INEOS.
Therefore, the Red Devils had to look elsewhere and signed Leny Yoro on a reported £52 million deal from Lille. This should have Erik ten Hag and company covered for the campaign, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof also at the club.
As for West Ham, the signing of Todibo wasn't easy, with the London giants having to battle Italian giants Juventus for the player's signature. Personal terms have also been agreed and a medical is now set to take place.
The need for a centre-half at the London Stadium was imminent, given the futures of Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma remain uncertain. Zouma is said to be deciding on whether to join Shabab Al-Ahli in the ongoing transfer window.
Todibo made 136 appearances across competitions for Nice, bagging two goals and three assists.
New Manchester United signing Leny Yoro set to miss three months of action due to injury
It looks like Manchester United fans will not get to see new signing Leny Yoro in a competitive fixture for about three months after the defender picked up an injury. The France under-23 international suffered a fractured foot in the Red Devils' 2-1 friendly defeat to Arsenal on July 27.
This is terrible news for the young defender, who recently underwent surgery for the same. Following the operation, an official statement from United read (via Metro):
"Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has today had a successful surgery on his foot injury. Yoro's rehabilitation starts now and we look forward to the 18-year-old returning to fitness in around three months."
Manchester United get their season underway with a Community Shield tie against Manchester City on Saturday, August 10. Their first Premier League match is with Fulham six days later.
